The Argentine peso has shown strong gains against the US dollar through February 2026, appreciating more than 5% over the month.

This result put the peso among the fastest growing currencies among emerging markets, amid a weakening dollar and growing interest in carry trade operations.

According to leading financial analysts, the strengthening of the peso is due to several factors. Firstly, the continued depreciation of the U.S. dollar caused a reassessment of risks in global markets and stimulated the flow of investments in currencies with higher yields. Secondly, Argentina demonstrated stable macroeconomic indicators, including lower inflation and growth of foreign exchange reserves to $54 bln, which increased investor confidence in the national currency.

  • The peso appreciated 5.2% against the U.S. dollar in February 2026.
  • Argentina's foreign exchange reserves reached the highest level in the last three years.
  • The volume of carry trade operations with peso increased by 18% compared to January.

Experts note that the attractiveness of the peso is due not only to the current yield, but also to the improvement of domestic economic policy. The government maintains a balanced approach to regulating the currency market, which minimizes volatility and supports long-term interest of foreign investors.

With the global weakening of the dollar and the search for alternative instruments to preserve and increase capital, the Argentine peso is becoming one of the key players among emerging market currencies.
